"short_description": "The Coldstream FTO PLUS water filter element performs excellently at reducing more than 200 contaminants (including PFAS and microplastics)",
"description": "Coldstream FTO PLUS water filter element – Coldstream FTO PLUS water filter elements are gravity filter elements and deliver excellent performance in reducing more than 200 contaminants, including heavy metals, fluoride, pesticides, herbicides, chlorine, chloramines, nitrate, bacteria, viruses, pharmaceuticals, microplastics, PFAS and more! Ideal for use with tap water and most natural drinking water sources (including water from lakes, rivers, streams, ponds and rainwater). They also fit many brands of gravity water filter systems (including Berkey, British Berkefeld, ProOne, Phoenix, Aqua Logic, Monderma, Boroux, Pure Filters and Newton).\n\nThis filter element consists of two key components. A specially formulated and unique ceramic outer layer, which provides protection against bacteria, particles and microplastics, among other things. The inside consists of black granulated carbon media.\n\n#### Coldstream FTO PLUS water filter elements NSF-certified\n\nThe Coldstream FTO PLUS water filter element is NSF-certified (NSF/ANSI 42) and has been tested by an [independent laboratory](https://forms.iapmo.org/rtws/listed_labs.asp?labid=0000102) according to NSF/ANSI standards 42, 53 and P231. See the [laboratory report](https://www.alternatievemiddelen.nl/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/Coldstream-FTO-PLUS-filterelementen_testrapport.pdf) for more details and the website of [NSF](https://info.nsf.org/Certified/DWTU/Listings.asp?Company=C0091750&Standard=042).\n\n#### Features of the Coldstream FTO PLUS water filter element:\n\n- “All-in-one” filter technology – NO extra filters needed for, for example, fluoride reduction\n\n- The outside is white ceramic, impregnated with silver to prevent the growth of bacteria. The core is patented granular media based on activated carbon\n\n- Priming beforehand (making it ready for use) is not necessary\n\n- Cleanable and reusable. Can be stored in a cool, dry place when not in use. So it does not need to stay wet (saturated) when not in use\n\n- No power needed\n\n- See the independent [lab report](https://www.alternatievemiddelen.nl/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/Coldstream-FTO-PLUS-filterelementen_testrapport.pdf), tested according to NSF/ANSI standards 42, 53 and P231\n\n- Contains no aluminium oxide\n\n- Retains the healthy and beneficial minerals and electrolytes that your body needs in the water\n\n- Fits many brands of gravity water filter systems (including Berkey, British Berkefeld, ProOne, Phoenix, Aqua Logic, Monderma, Boroux, Pure Filters and Newton)\n\n- Size: approx. 20 cm (without stem)\n\n- Lifespan: 1,500 litres or 6 months\n\n#### Installation, cleaning and replacement\n\nThe Coldstream FTO PLUS filter elements are easy to install, use and clean. Priming is not necessary and no additional filters are needed to remove fluoride. Before installing, simply rinse the outside briefly under the cold tap and, if you like, scrub it lightly with a scouring pad so that all the production dust is removed.\n\nWe advise cleaning the Coldstream FTO PLUS filter elements once a month, as well as the chambers and other parts of your water filter. Again, briefly rinse the outside under the cold tap and, if you like, scrub it lightly with a scouring pad.\n\nYou need to replace them every 6 months.\n\n**Installation**\n\nFollow the steps below:\n\n1. Take the filter element and place the rubber ring on the stem.\n\n2. Insert the stem through a hole in the upper chamber.\n\n3. Screw the wing nut onto the stem on the underside of the upper chamber. Once you feel resistance, that is enough. NOTE: do not overtighten! Repeat steps 1 and 2 for any other filter elements.\n\n4. Seal any remaining holes with blanking plugs.\n\n5. Place the upper chamber on the lower chamber.\n\n6. Fill the upper chamber with water and let the water run through. **We recommend discarding the first 2 cycles (with new filter elements)!**\n\nFor all additional information about Coldstream FTO PLUS filter elements, please refer to our [library](https://www.alternatievemiddelen.nl/de-bieb/), which contains manuals, instruction videos and answers to frequently asked questions, among other things.\n\n#### **–> You can also install this filter element in a Berkey water filter, ProOne water filter and/or British Berkefeld water filter.**",
