  "description": "Prime Service – The first step in preparing a Berkey or BOROUX water filter is priming the Berkey or BOROUX filter elements. It is important that this is done properly, otherwise purifying the water takes a very long time. Priming must be done before you place the Berkey or BOROUX elements in the water filter. Priming means that some water is forced through the element under slight pressure to make sure the Berkey or BOROUX purification element becomes wet on the inside (air leaves the element). This means you benefit from the full filtering speed of each element. To prime, you can use a [Priming Button](https://www.alternatievemiddelen.nl/producten/priming-button-black-berkey-elementen/) or [PrimeRite](https://www.alternatievemiddelen.nl/producten/berkey-primerrite-universal-primer-pf-2-adapter/), tools that let you saturate the element with water from a tap. This is supplied as standard with the Berkey or BOROUX filter elements. On our pages with [Berkey instruction videos](https://www.alternatievemiddelen.nl/instructievideos-berkey-waterfilters/) or [BOROUX instruction videos](https://www.alternatievemiddelen.nl/instructievideos-boroux-waterfilters/) you can see how priming works.\n\nHowever, you can also choose to have us do it for you: the Prime Service. Priming is a process you have to get the hang of, so it can be a bit tricky. Not every tap is suitable for priming either. Of course, you can also opt for the [BOROUX Automatic Filter Primer Pump](https://www.alternatievemiddelen.nl/producten/boroux-automatische-filter-primer-pomp/) or the [Black Berkey Primer](https://www.alternatievemiddelen.nl/producten/black-berkey-primer/), tools that mean you no longer need a tap for priming. But if you can't be bothered with any of this, then choose our Prime Service.\n\n#### Our Prime Service\n\nWith the Prime Service we prime the [Black Berkey filter elements](https://www.alternatievemiddelen.nl/producten/black-berkey-waterfilter-elementen/), [BOROUX Foundation™ Black filter elements](https://www.alternatievemiddelen.nl/producten/boroux-foundation-black-filterelementen/) and/or [Fluoride & Arsenic (PF-2) filter elements](https://www.alternatievemiddelen.nl/producten/fluoride-en-arsenicum-filter-elementen/) before they are shipped. If your order includes the Fluoride & Arsenic (PF-2) filter elements as well as the normal Berkey or BOROUX filter elements, you of course only need to order the Prime Service once. We prime everything in one go for the same price. This of course also applies if you have ordered several sets of the same filter elements.\n\nSo we take them out of the packaging, clean them and then prime them. With the Black Berkey and BOROUX Foundation™ Black filter elements, we also test straight away whether they pass the red dye test and whether the filtering speed is good. If everything is in order, we let them drain for a moment, then they go straight back into the packaging and your order is shipped. When they arrive, you no longer need to prime them, because they are still damp enough. You do still need to rinse them with cold water. After that you can place them straight into your water filter!\n\n#### PLEASE NOTE! You cannot order this service if you live in a country other than the Netherlands and Belgium. The delivery time is then too long, which makes it likely that the filters will have dried out again and the priming would have to be done again.",
