What does a shower filter do and when does it make sense?
What a shower filter does and does not do, how often the cartridge needs replacing and which filter is in stock.
What a shower filter does
You screw a shower filter on between the tap and the shower hose or between a connecting rod and the shower head. The filter reduces, among other things, chlorine (by-)products and any other chemicals in the shower water. Inside, a mixture of a high-quality copper-zinc alloy and calcium sulphite works to neutralise chemicals before they reach your skin and hair. These ingredients are also known for reducing limescale, but the brand makes no claim about this. The result is cleaner, softer water that feels noticeably softer from the very first shower. It is a small intervention with a small price, so trying it is the quickest way to find out for your situation.
What a shower filter does not do
The water you shower with can contain as many contaminants as unfiltered drinking water. You do not use a shower filter as a drinking water filter. A shower filter focuses on a few contaminants, which makes showering more pleasant and softer. Chemicals in your shower water can, after all, cause dry hair and dry skin. If you want to reduce a larger number of contaminants in order to use the water for drinking, you need an ordinary (gravity) water filter, not a shower filter.
Maintenance
The cartridge is saturated after about half a year and you replace it in a minute, without tools. If you shower very often during the day, replacement will be closer to 3 months. Set a reminder for it in your calendar, or write it on the shower filter with a waterproof marker.
