Maximum service life

Routine maintenance ensures a maximum service life for BOROUX or Berkey filter elements. Sediment and minerals can build up in the upper tank and clog filters if they are not cleaned regularly. A sponge is supplied for cleaning the tanks and scrubbing the filters.

Cleaning system and filters

We recommend cleaning the stainless steel tanks and the tap monthly. The filters should be scrubbed every three to six months, or when you notice a lower flow. After cleaning and testing with the red dye, the filters must be primed again with the blue PrimeRite to ensure a good flow.

Always have spare parts to hand

It is not common for wing nuts or washers to break, but if, for example, the wing nuts are tightened too much, they may spin through and no longer hold your filters properly in place. Keep an extra set of wing nuts and washers to hand just in case.
