Sport Berkey drinking bottle with filter 700 ml

The Sport Berkey drinking bottle with filter is ideal for sports, travel or other outdoor activities.

The Sport Berkey contains an Ionic Adsorption Micro Filtration System. The technology behind this innovation is simple. The bottle's filter is designed to remove, or greatly reduce, a broad spectrum of contaminants that are harmful to health from water of doubtful quality. Think of water from lakes, rivers, standing water and water sources in foreign countries where, for example, the tap water is not safe to drink. Of course, it can also be used to purify municipal or tap water.

The BPA-free plastic bottle uses a micro-porous filter with a complex, winding structure, so the water to be filtered has a longer path through the filter and stays in contact with the filter media for longer. The filter media of the Sport Berkey uses an "Ionic Adsorption Micro Filtration System", which means it is impregnated with absorbent material that promotes the ionic absorption of all kinds of harmful substances.

This water filter removes the following unwanted substances from drinking water:

– Heavy metals such as aluminium, cadmium, chromium, copper, lead and mercury.

– Toxic chemicals such as trihalomethanes, pesticides, detergents, etc.

– Harmful pathogens up to 99.99999%, such as cryptosporidium, Giardia, E. coli and other disease-causing bacteria.

First use of the Sport Berkey

Fill the Sport Berkey with water, screw on the cap and tighten it firmly to prevent leaks. Make sure the straw sticks out and squeeze the bottle so that the water comes out through the filter. Repeat this flow-through process twice before you drink from it for the first time. This removes excess dust from the filter. After the two flow-throughs, also rinse the bottle and the cap clean. The filter is now ready for use.

Maintenance and storage

The Sport Berkey with filter can sit on the shelf for 50 years. If the filter system will not be used for a longer period, run a chlorinated solution of 1.25 ml per 2 litres of water through it. Leave it to dry thoroughly with the cap off. Put it back together and store it away. Do not let the filter freeze, do not put it in a microwave and do not let the filter come into contact with hot or salty water.

Refill capacity and replacement

The Sport Berkey can be refilled 640 times when filtering tap water and 160 times when water from other sources is used. It is normally advisable to replace the filter element after 12 months. Provided it is stored cool and dry, the Sport Berkey keeps for 50 years.

Composition of the Sport Berkey

The Sport Berkey is made from BPA-free plastic. The bottle is made of LDPE (low density polyethylene), the bottle's cap of HDPE (high density polyethylene) and the straw of PP (polypropylene). None of these plastics is known to be carcinogenic or hormone-disrupting.
