Guide · water filter for travel

Filtering water while travelling and camping

From a drinking bottle with a filter element to a compact travel system: this is how you drink water you can rely on while on the move.

The bottle that filters

For on the move, at the campsite or simply in your gym bag, a drinking bottle with a built-in filter element is the lightest solution. You fill it at any tap and the element filters while you drink. You replace the filter element in the bottle separately; the bottle itself lasts for years.

The system that travels with you

If you travel by camper van, stay at a seasonal pitch or have a holiday home, you take a compact gravity system with you. The smallest water filters, of about 6 litres, work anywhere: no connection, no electricity. Tip: if you are going to be driving with it, secure the filters in the upper chamber well or take them out for the journey. This prevents damage and therefore disappointment during your holiday.

Backpacking and hitting the road with a rucksack

If you are travelling with just a rucksack, space and weight are an important consideration. Even so, a water filter is a must-have for your rucksack. The Go Berkey Kit is ideal for this. A stainless steel drinking cup of about 1 litre, including a small upper chamber with an original Black Berkey filter in it. It slides together compactly and is not heavy either. Enjoy pure water everywhere.

An honest limit

These filters are made for tap water and clear mains water of varying taste and composition, such as you come across when travelling. For surface water or springs whose safety you do not know, the manufacturer's specifications and limitations per element apply: read them before you leave, not afterwards.
