British Berkefeld stopped selling through dealers: this is how your system keeps running

The brand still exists, but no longer sells through (online) shops. The Coldstream FTO PLUS fits the same housing and filters more. The honest switching story.

What changed

British Berkefeld still exists; a few years ago the company simply decided to stop selling through dealers and to sell everything itself from England. For Dutch owners that meant: no more shop that knows your system and keeps the filter elements in stock as standard with fast delivery, and no more regular point of contact who thinks along when something is wrong. Whereas the stainless steel housing of a Berkefeld can last for decades.

The switch customers have already made

Alternatievemiddelen.nl has therefore moved its own Berkefeld customers over, step by step, to the element that did remain readily available: the ceramic Coldstream FTO PLUS, from the English factory that also made the famous ProOne elements. It fits the same housing, and the test reports show that it reduces more contaminants than the British Berkefeld filters (Ultra Sterasyl and Ultra Fluoride), including fluoride directly, so you no longer have to choose between two variants. Switching is literally this: old elements out, Coldstream in.

What you keep and what you gain

You keep your system, your tap and your place on the worktop. You gain simplicity: you no longer have to choose between variants and it also filters fluoride directly. The Coldstream filters do not need to be primed (made ready for use) either, just as you are used to with the British Berkefeld filters (Ultra Sterasyl and Ultra Fluoride). And with a fixed replacement rhythm of 1,500 litres or six months per element, that will be familiar to you as well. And when you look at the price, the Coldstream FTO PLUS filter, with direct fluoride reduction, is also quite a bit cheaper than the British Berkefeld variant. A nice bonus, then! The manuals for the switch can be found in the shop's library; if you cannot work it out, Tom will simply take a look along with you via WhatsApp.

In short. British Berkefeld stopped using dealers, your system does not have to go anywhere. The Coldstream FTO PLUS fits in it, filters more (including direct fluoride), needs no priming and is simply in stock at Alternatievemiddelen.nl, who know which water filter you have.
