About this video
We use a water filter because there is so much concern about water these days. We have used ours since 2015, when there was already a lot of concern about water, and we have been happy with it ever since. We use the water filter every day, and sometimes we have to refill it more than once a day. Our children were all born after we got the water filter, so they only know the way to the water filter.
How a water filter works is actually very simple. These are gravity water filters. There are different technologies, but this one is a gravity water filter. It has two chambers, an upper chamber and a lower chamber. In the upper chamber there are two filter elements. The water goes in there and passes through the filter elements into the lower chamber. There it waits until it is drunk, and you simply draw it off from the water filter. Ready to use.
What gets filtered out of the water includes medicine residues, hormone residues and heavy metals. Present-day contaminants such as microplastics, PFAS and pesticides are really whole groups of substances that are removed, and chemical contaminants and the like too. The difference with tap water is that it is naturally filtered. You taste the difference straight away when you drink tap water and filtered water side by side: it is really softer.
And so you can trust that any contaminants still in the water have been taken out too. A water filter is suitable for everyone. For families at home, in the office, at nurseries, but also when you travel. There are small and large models, so you can take it with you anywhere.
In our family, when we go on holiday, the water filter is about the first thing we pack. How do you maintain it? You can clean the chambers themselves with warm water and a little washing-up liquid. You can do that as often as you like.
For example, once a month. The filter elements inside should not be cleaned too often, and there is no need to. You clean them with a scouring pad, scrubbing under a cold tap. That does cause wear, so our advice is to do it once every six months if you use tap water and with average use.
What you really need to know before buying a water filter is which technology suits you. These are gravity water filters, which is simply a very powerful technology.
We have the brands Berkey, BOROUX and Coldstream in our range. These are brands that have proven themselves over the years.
They have been on the market for a very long time. They have good test results, and that matters. And these days there is simply a lot of demand for water filters. Many new brands have come onto the market.
Above all, look at the test results. Then you know how good the water filter really is. We can always advise you, because we have plenty of experience and we know what these three brands can do for you.
