Berkey Water Filters Priming Starter Kit

Berkey Water Filters Priming Starter Kit – This kit is ideal for Berkey users to help prime the Black Berkey filter elements, assemble the water filter properly and check that everything has been fitted correctly.

The Priming Starter Kit contains the following parts:

● 1x PrimeRite Universal Primer: a handy tool for priming the Black Berkey filter elements with the tap.

● 1x PrimeRite Fluoride & Arsenic filter adapter: an adapter so that the Fluoride & Arsenic filters can also be primed easily.

● 1x Anti-Airlock Clip (Vapor Lock Clip): sometimes a Berkey water filter creates a vacuum in the bottom tank; this little clip prevents that from happening and is easy to place on the rim of the bottom tank.

● 2x small bottle of red dye: with the red dye you can test whether you have assembled your Berkey water filter correctly the first time or after cleaning. For this test, see also our instruction videos.

The first step in preparing a Berkey water filter is priming the Black Berkey filter elements. It is important that this is done properly, otherwise purifying the water takes a very long time. Priming must be done before you place the Black Berkey elements in the Berkey water filter. Priming means that some water is forced through the element under slight pressure to make sure that the Black Berkey purification element becomes wet on the inside (air leaves the element). This way you benefit from the full filtering speed of each element. To prime, you can use a Priming Button, a small rubber ring that lets you run water through the element from a tap. This is supplied as standard in the box with the Black Berkey filter elements. Or you can use the PrimeRite Universal Primer, part of this Priming Starter Kit. In addition, this kit contains an adapter for the Fluoride & Arsenic filters, an Anti-Airlock Clip (Vapor Lock Clip) for if your Berkey water filter happens to create a vacuum, and red dye so you can check that the Berkey water filter has been installed correctly.
