About this product

The Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ filter element has been tested by independent external laboratories to remove or reduce a wide range of typical water contaminants found in water supplies, including: perfluorinated “forever chemicals” (PFAS, PFOA & PFOS), synthetic organic compounds – industrial and agricultural chemicals (SOCs), heavy metals, pharmaceuticals, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), other water contaminants, unpleasant odours and tastes, and more. The Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ filter element does not remove essential healthy minerals such as magnesium and calcium from the water and does not change the total dissolved solids (TDS). The TDS values therefore remain unchanged, but a TDS value says nothing about the quality of water.

NSF/ANSI 42 (aesthetic effects) and NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 (lead) certification

Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ filter elements are certified to NSF/ANSI standard 42 for the reduction of non-health-related contaminants, i.e. aesthetic impurities such as chlorine, chloramines and particles that affect taste and odour. They are also certified to NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 – reduction of lead contamination. NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 is in line with the US Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and its associated requirements for lead-free plumbing, as well as with the requirements of individual US states (the designation “CAN” stands for “Canada”, where Health Canada works with NSF and ANSI to develop these standards for products that come into contact with drinking water).

You can view the official NSF listings via the links below:

• NSF/ANSI 42 Drinking Water Treatment Units – Aesthetic Effects

• NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 Drinking Water System Components – Lead Content

Install the Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ filter faster with the included PrimeEasy™ universal primer

The included PrimeEasy™ Universal Primer (or similar tool) is stretchable and adapts to most tap heads and taps. This makes for smoother and more efficient operation thanks to a sealed, leak-free connection while priming your filter. Priming is a necessary step in the installation. Running water from your tap is used to flush production dust out of the filters before first use. It also drives the air out of the pores of the elements so that the water can flow freely. The priming process is recommended when you first use the filter or after a long period of inactivity.

This filter is compatible with all Berkey water filters, as well as most other brands of gravity water filters

The Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ filter element is designed for all Berkey water filters, including the Go Berkey Kit, Travel Berkey, Berkey Light, Big Berkey, Royal Berkey, Imperial Berkey and Crown Berkey, plus most other brands of gravity water filter systems.

We recommend replacing this filter element every year or after a maximum of 10,000 litres (per 1 filter). The filter may need to be replaced sooner, depending on the quality of the water source.

Getting ready for use

The first step is priming the Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ filter element. It is important that this is done properly, otherwise purifying the water takes a very long time. For all information about Berkey water filters, please see our library, which contains manuals, instruction videos and answers to frequently asked questions, among other things. If priming with the tap does not work, you can order an automatic primer pump or manual primer pump from us.
